About a Mountain is an excellent literary work, but it is also a relentless and thorough examination of our government’s dodgy plan to store high-level nuclear waste inside Yucca Mountain, a desert-island mountain range just outside the city of Las Vegas, Nevada.   Funding a review of the Yucca Mountain siting is the opportunity these senators are requesting for a thorough process, for state input, and for further adjudicating the : Katie Tubb.

The NRC staff has written the Yucca Mountain Review Plan to provide guidance to the staff to evaluate a DOE license application for a geologic repository. The review plan provides that the staff will apply risk information throughout the review of the performance assessment to focus its review on those items most important to waste isolation. The White House said it would not reverse a decision by President Donald Trump to strip funding for Yucca Mountain, despite an Energy Department official saying the government was still seeking to.

The review activity involves active participation in DOE, NRC, Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board, and other meetings and conferences where subjects pertinent to Yucca Mountain are discussed; participation in field reviews related to technical issues and/or on-going studies; formal review and comment on key program documents; and active.   — Designated by Congress as the site for storage, Yucca Mountain was designed to hold commercial nuclear waste deep underground for 1 million years. — The Yucca Mountain storage facility was defunded in by President Barack Obama. — There are ab tons of nuclear waste being temporarily stored at various facilities.
